I heard sad news today music lovers…Jack Bruce, best known as the bassist in Cream, has passed away. In memoriam I wanted to do a select-a-set of my favorite Cream songs. It’s also Halloween time/October so there may be something along those lines also. Thanks for all the great music Jack! Sad to see you go but hope you rest in peace!
First – Sunshine of Your Love. Who doesn’t love this song? That intro is unforgettable and well it wasn’t just Jack – there was Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker to make this trio truly rock and this song is definitely among their finest…I think.
Second – White Room. Again, another super rocking song. The bass line does what it’s supposed to – it anchors the song. Great song!
Third and final – Strange Brew. I have featured this song in the past as part of my Halloween select-a-sets but it feels appropriate to bring it up again. Haunting and fun – perfect for Halloween!
