*Sigh.* I love Bryan Adams! Okay not literally, but I love his music. This is a man who really knows women. His ballads are stinkin’ amazing. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for this week’s select-a-set and on came a song by Adams and I thought to myself “I love Bryan Adams!” Oh. There it was all wrapped neatly for me – this week’s select-a-set along with a title that fits with my theme this month. Who knew it could be that easy?

This is a double whammy because one – I think he’s fantastic (I can’t say love a third time, it’ll get weird). There is also the fact that it is The Love Month and Adams is so great with ballads/love songs that it’s a fit that’s too good to be true. Again, it struck me so quickly and lately I’ve been struggling a little bit with coming up with original sets. I’m going to have to go through all my sets (which by now is kind of a lot) and make sure I don’t do duplicates. That’s a mini-project, but hopefully totally worth it. Anyway, I digress. On to the fabulous music.

First up – “Thought I Died and Gone to Heaven.” I love this song – not trying to overdo it on all the “love” but I really do. Every time I hear this song my heart goes nuts. Part of it is it brings me back to my middle school years when I’d go to the skating rink with my friends. I could skate around the rink, put my arms up and feel like I was flying. It was so freeing. Plus I think everyone can relate to that moment when you realize that time spent with that special person is more than just a fleeting moment. It’s that – special. Such a great feeling.

Second – “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman.” This song is on the soundtrack for “Don Juan DeMarco” starring Johnny Depp. Need I say more? The movie is excellent – it’s sweet and romantic with a really amazingly hot man but it’s also a good romantic story, perfect for The Love Month. The song solidified my opinion that Adams really understands women. The lyrics really tap into the heart of most women and what we’re hoping for, etc. Plain and simple – it’s a beautiful song.

Third – “Heaven.” This song is so beautiful. Again, Adams hits the mark with a real gem of a song with lyrics that truly express a relationship that’s matured. Love this!

    • LOL well he hasn’t been out as much as he once was this is true. Adam Levine is definitely good looking but I like Bryan Adams voice better. Levine’s high pitched voice is something I don’t think I can handle for too long. 🙂

  1. Bryan Adams will forever be marked in my mind first and foremost with his hit song from the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves….. they played that song every day, all day long during the year that movie came out…… and that movie will always be marked in my mind as the one in which every actor in the film has a British accent except for Kevin Costner (and Morgan Freeman but he wasn’t supposed to have a British accent)……. it was like huh? Why does Kevin Costner speak with an American accent but nobody else does??? And then whenever I think of that I think of Robin Hood Men In TIghts in which the bad guy was the same bad guy from the Prince of Thieves, and I love that Movie its so funny! And robin hood men in tights then reminds me of Cary Elewes (I can’t remember how to spell his last name) who stars in The PRincess Bride and how every single woman who grew up during that era LOVES The Princess Bride (and a TON of guys love that movie too) but I never really liked it very much, don’t hate it, just don’t love it….. and so whenever Bryan Adams name is mentioned all these thoughts run through my mind 😀

    • LOL Kenneth – you’re worse than me about that! LOL oh dear lord. I actually will have a second part to this that will feature that song because again it’s so amazing. It’s better now that it’s not being overplayed. I do love The Princess Bride! It’s a great flick and fun and lots of great quotes. It’s a good time.

Chime in!
